There are tons of Pinterst pins about refinishing bathroom cabinets. This entire house has solid oak cabinets. Just not my taste. We had the Kitchen and Master bath cabinets professionally painted. The others we just could not justify spending the money to redo those. I saw a great post on Pinterst about staining oak cabinets, so I decided to give it a try. I am super happy with the results. For less than $15, I have a brand new looking bathroom cabinet.
Before ~ Plain oak
I used a foam sanding block to rough up the surface to accept the stain.
Finished Cabneit!! It looks great in the bathroom. The grain still shows a little more than I would like but for a few hours work and less than $15 in supplies, I am happy.

Chalkboards EVERYWHERE!
I love seeing all the cute chalkboard ideas that are all over Pinterest these days! Unfortunately for me, this house just did not have that perfect spot for a chalk board wall. One day as I was feeding my Pinterest addiction I saw this pin http://www.pinterest.com/pin/122230577360916172/. A light bulb went off. I could not only make what is usually the ugliest door in the house look a lot better, I could also get my chalk board spot. I really thought this would be a spot my boys would take over for their own but that has not been the case. I am having a blast changing it out with the holidays and seasons. The door took half of a quart of chalk board paint. I do recommend a foam brush to get into all the grooves.
Just looks like a normal door until you add the chalk. :)

Inspiration
Funny how the smallest things can inspire a whole room! I have the small mason jar that is the most beautiful shade of blue. This is the inspiration for my open concept kitchen and living room.

We did it!
Well, let the adventure begin! We did it we moved to Georgia! After six long months of living a rental house and looking at tons and tons of houses we found one! It is perfect? No, far from it, but it has great bones and the most beautiful wooded lot ever! The honey do list is very, very long. Luckily, for me I have willing husband and a love for all things decorating! Below are pictures of the outside. Let the projects begin!!!
